ANAHEIM, Calif. — The Walt Disney Co. has bold plans for the future of the Disneyland Resort.
This week, Disney officials will ask the city to update their existing development approvals from the Disneyland Resort Specific Plan to kick start a multi-year process that lays the groundwork to expand the Disneyland Resort in the future.
Dubbed Disneyland Forward, Disney is looking to modify its current agreement with the city that would allow them to create a new entertainment and destination offerings within the 500-acre Disneyland property in Anaheim.
Part of the long-term plan includes the possibility of Disney developing a new "Disney destination" at the Toy Story Parking lot, which sits across the Anaheim Convention Center. Currently, a part of the lot is being used as a mass coronavirus vaccination site. The Toy Story Parking lot has long been rumored as the site of a potential third gate.
